TWO CIVIL WAR NURSES FROM MAINE ON THE BATTLEFIELDS OF VIRGINIA
Ladies on the Field fills a large gap in the telling of the story of hundreds of nurses on both sides of the war who served without much support from the public (nursing was not a profession for a lady in the 1860's), and who served under very trying circumstances. In Ladies on the Field we meet two of the unknown, marvelous, brave women who went to war to nurse the wounded and sick soldiers - Isabella Fogg and Sarah Sampson.
Ladies on the Field contains 100 pages with 23 illustrations (many of contemporary scenes), a bibliography, end notes, and index, and primary sources.
